Scout Cabin -- Coming Along! |
|

2012 is guaranteed to be a great year for the Scout Cabin. If you haven't stopped by to take a look at it recently, please do so!
2011 was a dramatic year in building the new cabin. Workers have toiled every week and the roof is nearly completed.
Thanks again for all that have supported, volunteered their time and energy in getting the cabin this far!

Happily, members of the local Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post as well as adult Scouts and community members have come together to build a new log cabin which will serve as a community center and meeting place for Scouts.
In October 2007, the Fred Lewis Scout Cabin Association was born. This name was chose to honor Fred Lewis and our original cabin.
The Legion generously donated their park at the city limits to be the new Scout Cabin location. This new cabin will be locally owned and maintained by the Scout Cabin Association. It can not be taken away; it will remain on this site forever.
The cabin will be made of new logs, will look similar to the old one and will be of the same size. It will include a kitchen suitable for use by the community and basement storage for the Scouts.
Cliff Linderoth, Jr., builder of premier log home, has volunteered to teach us how to build the new cabin.

What a way to create a legacy in your family by purchasing a log. Well, you don’t exactly purchase the log and take it home. It becomes part of the Scout Cabin. A plaque will be engraved with your name, or the name of someone you wish to honor, and placed on a log inside the cabin.
